In a Dream State

Picture of a woman dreaming.

I awoke to a beating heart and fear of the unknown for the first time since my stroke. Who would have thought that my first dream would be a nightmare? Frankly, I’m hoping that this isn’t the last one. Although I would like to get some sweet dreams in too.

It has been almost 11 months and there was no sign that I was going to dream. According to DreamSearch.net, adults have between 4 and 6 dreams a night. Their research suggests that 95% – 99% of our dreams so ordinary that we don’t even remember them. My sleep has been so bad that it was impossible to get a good night’s rest… let alone dream.

That is getting somewhat better too. My family suggests that my brain needed time to rewire itself. Perhaps that allowed the dream to come forth… I slept long enough so I could have one. To having more (and better) dreams.
